Sun Herald: Ocean Springs didn’t have to look far for their new head football coach

OCEAN SPRINGS — Ocean Springs High has found its newest head football coach and didn’t have to go far to get him.

Jake Bramlett was announced as the Greyhounds’ new leader by the school on Tuesday. Bramlett has served as the offensive coordinator for OSHS in each of the last three years under now-Gulfport head coach Blake Pennock.

“Blessed is an understatement!” Bramlett posted on Twitter. “My family and I are beyond excited start this journey with an amazing school district and community! Thank you all for the outpouring of support, I am forever grateful!”

Ocean Springs has won 32 games over the last three years and improved its win total in each of those seasons. Most recently, the Greyhounds reached the South State finals for the first time since 2009.

Bramlett helped develop Alabama-signee Bray Hubbard and led an offense that has scored 500 points in back-to-back seasons, a feat never before accomplished by the score and the first team to do it since East Central in 2016-17.

Bramlett will be officially introduced at a press conference Thursday.
